jet propulsion
Introduction
Types of jet engines: In the propeller-driven turbine a stream of high-velocity gases provides the power to drive the turbine and turn the propeller. In the jet-driven turbine the stream of gases is ejected through exhaust nozzles to provide propulsion. In the ram-jet the forward motion of the engine at high speeds compresses the entering air so that a separate compressor is not necessary.
