This table provides information about the number of U.S. casualties in conflicts that have occurred since the Vietnam War; including Lebananon, Grenada, Libya, Panama, Persian Gulf, Somalia, Haiti, former Yugoslavia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

1. Defined as battle deaths. Does not include deaths from accidents.
2. A total of 1,462 Americans have been killed, including 254 noncombat deaths (May 12, 2011). 11,314 have been wounded (May 12, 2011).
3. A total of 4,445 Americans have been killed, including 951 non-combat deaths (May 12, 2011). 32,085 were wounded (May 12, 2011). Casualty counts combine Operations Iragi Freedom and New Dawn. Operation Iraqi Freedom includes casualties that occurred between March 19, 2003, and August 31, 2010, in the Arabian Sea, Bahrain, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Persian Gulf, Qatar, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. Operation New Dawn includes casualties that occurred on or after September 1, 2010 in the Arabian Sea, Bahrain, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Persian Gulf, Qatar, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates
