With roles in such films as Fear (1996), Public Enemy No. 1 (HBO, 1996), and Hugo Pool (1997; directed by Robert Downey, Sr.), and in the television series Melrose Place (1997–98) and Charmed (1998–), Alyssa Milano has accomplished what many former child actors and actresses have not—made the transition from child to adult star. From 1984 to 1992 Milano appeared with Tony Danza and Judith Light in the situation comedy Who's the Boss? After Boss's run, she struggled against the perception of her as a little girl. Taking on the role of Amy Fisher in CBS television's Casualties of Love: The Long Island Lolita Story helped her to rid herself of the image, however, and she is now engaged in more grown-up fare She plays Phoebe Halliwell in the WB series Charmed (1998– ).
