Fogelberg was a singer and songwriter who helped define the soft-rock era with hits like “Same Old Lang Syne.” His songs were powerful due to their simplicity and emotion, as well as their engaging story lines. Fogelberg released his first album in 1972, and had several platinum and multi-platinum albums throughout the 1970s and 80s with hits such as “The Power of Gold” and “Leader of the Band.” “Leader of the Band” was written as a tribute to his father, a bandleader. In 2003, he released his last album entitled “Full Circle,” with material focused on the state of the environment and other issues close to his heart.
