John Hughes
writer, director
Born: 2/18/1950
Birthplace: Lansing, Michigan
Having begun his career writing for the National Lampoon magazine, it seemed a logical step for Hughes to then write several of the screenplays for the National Lampoon franchise, including National Lampoon's Class Reunion (1982), Vacation (1983), European Vacation (1985), and Christmas Vacation (1989). He also wrote and produced several Brat Pack films, including Pretty in Pink (1986), and more notably, Sixteen Candles (1984), Weird Science (1985), The Breakfast Club (1985), and Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), which he also directed. He initiated the Home Alone series by writing and producing the initial film (1990) and producing its sequels (1992, 1997).
