former WBC/IBF welterweight champion; won WBC belt with a majority decision over Oscar De La Hoya in Sept., 1999; stepped up to junior middleweight and won the WBA title from David Reid in March, 2000; moved to middleweight and lost in a 12th-round TKO to Bernard Hopkins in Sept. 2001; knocked out Ricardo Mayorga in 2004 comeback fight.
