Barrow, Dean Oliver, 1951–, Belizean political leader, prime minister of Belize (2008–20). A lawyer and member of the United Democratic party (UDP), he served in the Belize House of Representatives from 1984 until his retirement in 2020, and held several cabinet posts, including deputy prime minister, attorney general, and minister of foreign affairs and economic development, before becoming UDP leader in 1998. In 2008 he led the UDP to a landslide victory in the national elections and became prime minister; Barrow and the UDP remained in power after 2012 and 2015 elections.
