Mishustin, Mikhail Vladimirovich, 1966–, Russian economist and political leader. Trained in systems engineering and economics, he was Russia's deputy tax minister (1998–2004), then worked for government ministries in real estate and economic development (2004–8). Subsequently president of an asset management firm (2008–10), he returned to government in 2010 as head of the Russian federal tax service and modernized the tax administration system. In 2020, after President Putin called for changes to the Russian constitution, Prime Minister Medvedev resigned, and Mishustin, a career bureaucrat with no political experience, was named prime minister.
