Starr, Bart (Bryan Bartlett Starr), 1934–2019, American football player and coach, b. Montgomery, Ala. He was a quarterback for the Univ. of Alabama (1952–55), where he helped the team win the 1953 Orange Bowl. Drafted by the Green Bay Packers (1956), he became starting quarterback (1959) under Vince Lombardi and played with the team through 1971, leading them to five NFL championships (1961–62, 1965–67) and being named most valuable player in Super Bowls I and II (1967–68). The only quarterback to win three consecutive NFL championships, he also was named the NFL's most valuable player in 1966. He held five NFL passing records, including career records for passing completion percentage and consecutive passes without interception. He served as head coach of the Packers (1975–83), and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977.
