Keita, Ibrahim Boubacar, 1945–2022, Malian politician. Keita was a member of the Alliance for Democracy in Mali (1990–2001) until founding the Rally for Mali in 2001. He served as Mali's foreign minister (1993–94), prime minister (1994–2000) and president of the national assembly (2002–7). Known for his tough stance on trade unions and student protesters in the 1990s, he ran unsuccessfully for the presidency in 2002 and 2007 before winning the office in 2013. He was reelected in 2018. In 2020, a festering uprising, poor economy, and corruption led to protests against him, and he resigned after an army mutiny escalated into a coup.
