De Croo, Alexander, 1975–, Belgian political leader. He worked for the Boston Consulting Group (1999–2006) and his own management consulting firm (2006–9) before entering politics. The son of Belgian political leader Herman De Croo, he is a member of the Liberal and Democratic Flemish party (Open VLD). He was party leader (2009–12), and entered parliament as a senator (2010–12) in elections called after Open VLD withdrew from the government. De Croo held several ministerial posts, including deputy prime minister (2012–20) and minister of finance (2018–20), before he became prime minister in 2020 of a diverse seven-party coalition government of Francophone and Flemish parties.
