Ndola

Ndola əndōˈlä [key], city (1990 est. pop. 376,311), N central Zambia, near the Congo. It is a commercial, mining, and manufacturing center, located in the Copperbelt. Copper mining in Ndola long antedates the coming of the Europeans (c.1900). Manufactures include cement, footwear, and soap; motor vehicles are assembled. Ndola is the site of Northern Technical College (1964) and a campus of the Univ. of Zambia (1978).
