Government
Afghanistan was governed under the constitution of 2004 until the Taliban takeover in September 2021. At that time, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was restored, with Hasan Akhund, one of the Taliban's original founders, named acting Prime Minister. Administratively, the country is divided into 34 provinces.
