Edinburg

Edinburg ĕdˈənbûrgˌ [key], city (2020 pop. 100,243), seat of Hidalgo co., extreme S Tex.; inc. 1919. It is a processing center in the irrigated portion of the lower Rio Grande valley. Agricultural products include citrus fruits, vegetables, and cotton. Oil and gas are produced from surrounding fields. There is food processing, and fertilizers and corrugated boxes are manufactured. The Univ. of Texas's Pan American campus is in Edinburg. A U.S. wildlife refuge and a state park are nearby.
