Weslaco

Weslaco wĕsˈlĭkō [key], city (1990 pop. 21,877), Hidalgo co., extreme S Tex., in the irrigated region of the lower Rio Grande valley; inc. 1921. Cotton, citrus, and vegetables are grown, and there are fruit- and vegetable-processing companies as well as other agriculture-related industries. Weslaco is in a popular winter resort area and is linked to Mexico by an international bridge. An agricultural research center of Texas A&M Univ. is there.
