Hillerød

Hillerød hĭlˈəröᵺ [key], city, capital of Frederiksborg co., E Denmark. It is an industrial and tourist center with a number of medical institutes and drug companies. The city developed around the famous Renaissance-style Frederiksborg castle (1602–20), which was once a royal residence and today houses the national museum. From 1640 to 1840, Danish kings were crowned in the castle church.
