Drin

Drin drēn [key], river, c.175 mi (280 km) long, formed at Kukës, NE Albania, by the confluence of the White Drin, which rises in Kosovo, and the Black Drin, which flows out of Lake Ohrid in S Albania. It is the largest river of Albania. The Drin flows generally west through deep gorges and then onto the coastal plain before turning south and entering the Adriatic Sea S of Lezhë. North of Lezhë, a distributary (formed 1858–59) diverts some of the flow to the Bojana River. The Drin is not navigable.
