Pyrimidines found in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)

pyrimidine pīrĭmˈĭdēnˌ [key], type of organic base found in certain coenzymes and in the nucleic acids of plant and animal tissue. The three major pyrimidines of almost universal distribution in living systems are cytosine, thymine, and uracil.
