Mary Poppins (1964)

Disney's live action films are often overshadowed by the animated entries, but Mary Poppins is not to be ignored. Walt Disney himself supervised the production, and his meticulous attention to detail earned the film a carpetbag full of Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Director, and Adapted Screenplay. Julie Andrews took home the Best Actress trophy for her screen debut, as did Cotton Warburton for editing. The tale of the beloved "nearly perfect nanny," which introduced "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" to our vernacular, blends charming animation, heel-kicking dance numbers, and a whimsical score for timeless family entertainment.
