Electrolysis of Aqueous Solutions - Potassium Iodide

In this part of the electrolysis of aqueous solutions lab, you see the electrolysis of three aqueous potassium iodide (KI) solutions. One of the solutions contains only dissolved KI. Starch has been added to the second solution of KI. Bromtymol blue (BTB) has been added to the third.

After you have added the electolysis apparatus to each drop, you will be able to see what is happening in the solution to cause the observable change.
