Martial artist and Jackie Chan choreographer Sammo Hung in CBS' surprisingly sucessful Martial Law
CBS has had some luck in the drama department. Sammo Hung's Martial Law has proven to be a surprise hit. The chunky chop-socky cop has found a wide audience that has made it the network's highest-rated new show. He apparently works better with Chuck Norris than Jane Seymour did. The quirky Buddy Faro also scored early in the season, with Dennis Farina and Frank Whaley making an irresistible pairing. The Benben Show, on the other hand, didn't live up to expectations and CBS canned it after only a handful of outings, as the comedy lost about 30 percent of viewers who tuned in to Everybody Loves Raymond. Saddled by banal writing, things don't look much better for the Eye's Maggie Winters, starring Murphy Brown's Faith Ford. Her character, who moves back home after a messy divorce, is basically Corky in different straits.
