Grammy Award-winning country music singer who, with Willie Nelson, invented progressive or “outlaw” country music. His recordings include “MacArthur Park” (1969), Ol' Waylon (1977) and “Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” (1978). In 1985, he formed the Highwaymen with Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson.
