Peter Drucker
writer, management consultant
Born: 11/19/1909
Birthplace: Vienna, Austria
Having emigrated to the U.S. in 1937, he worked as an economist, a journalist, and a philosophy professor before finding a career as a professor of management and social sciences. He is best known for establishing management as its own discipline through his writing and his work as a consultant to major corporations. Several of his theories are practiced widely throughout the business world today, including management by objectives rather than by control, marketing as a central management task, and the corporation as the representative institution of an industrial society.
