Allan Cathcart DURBOROW, Jr., Congress, IL (1857-1908)
DURBOROW, Allan Cathcart, Jr., a Representative from Illinois; born in Philadelphia, Pa., November 10, 1857; moved to Indiana in 1862 with his parents, who settled in Williamsport, Warren County; attended the public schools; entered Wabash College, Crawfordsville, Ind., in the fall of 1872; was graduated from Indiana University at Bloomington in 1877; after residing in Indianapolis moved to Chicago in 1880 and in 1887 became business manager of the Western Electrician, a trade magazine; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-second and Fifty-third Congresses (March 4, 1891-March 3, 1895); was not a candidate for renomination in 1894; engaged in the insurance business; unsuccessful candidate for election in 1902 to the Fifty-eighth Congress; died in Chicago, Ill., March 10, 1908; interment in Graceland Cemetery.
