McCARTY, Andrew Zimmerman, a Representative from New York; born in Rhinebeck, Dutchess County, N.Y., July 14, 1808; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1831 and commenced practice in Pulaski, Oswego County, N.Y.; county clerk of Oswego County 1840-1843; member of the State assembly in 1846 and 1847; elected as an Opposition Party candidate to the Thirty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1855-March 3, 1857); resumed the practice of his profession in Pulaski; register of bankruptcy 1875-1879; died in Pulaski, Oswego County, N.Y., April 23, 1879; interment in Pulaski Cemetery.
