DemocratMORRISON, Cameron A., a Senator and a Representative from North Carolina; born near Rockingham, Richmond County, N.C., October 5, 1869; attended private schools at Ellerbe Springs, N.C., and at Rockingham; studied law; admitted to the bar in 1892 and commenced practice in Rockingham; mayor of Rockingham 1893; presidential elector at large in 1916; moved to Charlotte, N.C., and continued the practice of law; Governor of North Carolina 1921-1925; member of the Democratic National Committee in 1928; appointed on December 13, 1930, as a Democrat to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Lee S. Overman and served from December 13, 1930, until December 4, 1932, when a duly elected successor qualified; was an unsuccessful candidate for election to fill the vacancy; resumed the practice of law; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-eighth Congress (January 3, 1943-January 3, 1945); again resumed the practice of his profession in Charlotte, N.C.; died in Quebec, Canada, on August 20, 1953; interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte, N.C.
