Charles William Francis HENNEY, Congress, WI (1884-1969)
HENNEY, Charles William Francis, a Representative from Wisconsin; born on a farm near Dunlap, Harrison County, Iowa, February 2, 1884; attended the district school and Denison (Iowa) Normal School; taught in a district school in Crawford County, Iowa, 1902-1905; was graduated from the pharmacy department of Fremont (Nebr.) Normal School in 1906 and from the medical department of Northwestern University, Chicago, Ill., in 1910; moved to Portage, Columbia County, Wis., in 1912 and commenced the practice of medicine; delegate to all Democratic State conventions from 1920 to 1936; delegate to Democratic National Conventions in 1936, 1940, 1944, and 1948; member of the Portage City Park Commission 1925-1933; chief of staff of St. Saviorâs Hospital, Portage City, Wis., in 1926 and 1927; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third Congress (March 4, 1933-January 3, 1935); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1934 to the Seventy-fourth Congress; resumed the practice of medicine and surgery; died in Portage, Wis., November 16, 1969; interment in St. Maryâs Catholic Cemetery.
