KIRTLAND, Dorrance, a Representative from New York; born in Coxsackie, Greene County, N.Y., July 28, 1770; was graduated from Yale College in 1789; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Coxsackie; surrogate of Greene County 1808-1838; elected as a Republican to the Fifteenth Congress (March 4, 1817-March 3, 1819); judge of the court of common pleas of Greene County 1828-1838; died in Coxsackie, N.Y., May 23, 1840; interment in Old Coxsackie Cemetery.
