St. Michael High School; attended Concordia Jr. College, Westchester Community College, University of Bridgeport, St. Francis College, and John Jay College; served in U.S. Marine Corps, 1951-1954; New York City policeman, 1955-1979; chief of police, Raleigh, N.C., 1979-1994; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fourth Congress (January 3, 1995-January 3, 1997); was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fifth Congress; died on March 20, 2010, in Raleigh, N.C.
