ZELENKO, Herbert, a Representative from New York; born in New York City, March 16, 1906; attended public schools; graduated from Columbia University in 1926 and from Columbia Law School in 1928; was admitted to the bar in 1929 and commenced the practice of law in New York City; lecturer, Practicing Law Institute and Law Science Institute; former assistant United States attorney for the southern district of New York; elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-fourth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1955-January 3, 1963); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1962 to the Eighty-eighth Congress; resumed the practice of law; died in New York City, February 23, 1979; interment at Sharon Gardens, Valhalla, N.Y.
