JORDAN, Isaac M., a Representative from Ohio; born in Mifflinburg, Union County, Pa., May 5, 1835; moved with his parents to Springfield, Ohio, in 1837; attended Northwood (Ohio) Institute for two years and was graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1857; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1858 and commenced practice in Dayton, Ohio; moved to Cincinnati in 1859 and continued the practice of law; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-eighth Congress (March 4, 1883-March 3, 1885); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1884; engaged in the practice of law in Cincinnati; died from injuries received in an elevator accident in Cincinnati, Ohio, December 3, 1890; interment in the family vault in Spring Grove Cemetery.
