WEAVER, James Howard, a Representative from Oregon; born in Brookings, Brookings County, S.Dak., August 8, 1927; attended public schools in Des Moines, Iowa; moved to Eugene, Oreg., 1947; B.S., University of Oregon, Eugene, 1952; served in the United States Navy, 1945-1946; worked as publisherâs representative, 1954-1958; was staff director for Oregon Legislative Interim Committee on Agriculture, 1959-1960; became a builder and developer of office and apartment building complexes in Oregon, 1960; delegate, Democratic National Conventions, 1960, 1964; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fourth and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1975-January 3, 1987); was not a candidate for reelection in 1986; was the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in 1986 but withdrew his candidacy; author; is a resident of Eugene, Oreg.
