LYLE, John Emmett, Jr., a Representative from Texas; born in Boyd, Wise County, Tex., September 4, 1910; graduated from Wichita Falls High School, Wichita Falls, Tex.; attended the Junior College at Wichita Falls, the University of Texas, Austin, Tex., and the Houston Law School, Houston, Tex.; lawyer, private practice; member of the Texas state house of representatives, 1941-1944; United States Army, 1942-1944; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-ninth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1945-January 3, 1955); was not a candidate for renomination in 1954 to the Eighty-fourth Congress; appointed to the Federal Council on Aging, 1994; died on November 11, 2003, in Houston, Tex.; interment in Texas State Cemetery, Austin, Tex.
