STANTON, John William, a Representative from Ohio; born in Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, February 20, 1924; graduated from Culver Military Academy, Culver, Ind., 1942; attended School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., 1942; graduated from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., 1949; United States Army, 1942-1946; businessman; elected Lake County Commissioner, 1956 and 1960; elected as a Republican to the Eighty-ninth and to the eight succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1965-January 3, 1983); was not a candidate for reelection to the Ninety-eighth Congress in 1982; executive, World Bank; died on April 11, 2002, in Jacksonville, Fla.
