KLINE, Marcus Charles Lawrence, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Emaus, Salisbury Township, Lehigh County, Pa., March 26, 1855; attended the common schools in the borough of Emaus, Pa., and was graduated from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pa., June 26, 1874; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1876 and commenced practice in Allentown; city solicitor of Allentown in 1877; district attorney for Lehigh County 1887-1890; chairman of the Democratic county committee of Lehigh County 1895-1899; president Lehigh Valley Trust Co. 1899-1906; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-eighth and Fifty-ninth Congresses (March 4, 1903-March 3, 1907); was not a candidate for renomination in 1906; resumed the practice of his profession and also engaged in banking; president Allentown Trust Co. 1907-1911; delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1908; died in Allentown, Lehigh County, Pa., March 10, 1911; interment in Fairview Cemetery.
