Martin GORSKI, Congress, IL (1886-1949)
GORSKI, Martin, a Representative from Illinois; born in Poland, October 30, 1886; immigrated in 1889 to the United States with his parents, who settled in Chicago, Ill.; attended the public and high schools; was graduated from business college and from Chicago (Ill.) Law School in 1917; was admitted to the bar in 1917 and commenced practice in Chicago, Ill.; assistant Stateâs attorney 1918-1920; master in chancery of the superior court of Cook County, Ill., 1929-1942; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-eighth, Seventy-ninth, and Eightieth Congresses and served from January 3, 1943, until his death; had been reelected to the Eighty-first Congress; died in Chicago, Ill., December 4, 1949; interment in Resurrection Cemetery (Village of Justice).
