Michael Lambert IGOE, Congress, IL (1885-1967)
IGOE, Michael Lambert, a Representative from Illinois; born in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minn., April 16, 1885; educated in the parochial schools and De La Salle Institute, Chicago, Ill.; was graduated from the law department of Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., in 1908; was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in Chicago, Ill.; member of the State house of representatives 1913-1930; served as chief assistant in the United States attorneyâs office in Chicago 1915-1917; member of the board of South Park Commissioners 1924-1934; delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1928; member of the Democratic National Committee 1930-1932; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth Congress, serving from January 3, 1935, until his resignation effective June 2, 1935, having been appointed a United States attorney for the northern district of Illinois on May 16, 1935, and served until his appointment as United States district judge on March 4, 1939, in which capacity he served until 1965; died in Chicago, Ill., on August 21, 1967; interment in All Saints Cemetery, Park Ridge, Ill.
