O’CONNELL, David Joseph, a Representative from New York; born in New York City December 25, 1868; attended the public schools; employed in the publishing business in New York City, later becoming sales manager for Funk & Wagnalls; an organizer and first secretary of the Twenty-eighth Ward Board of Trade and the Allied Board of Trade, Brooklyn, N.Y.; president of the Booksellers’ League of New York; delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1920; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1919-March 3, 1921); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1920 to the Sixty-seventh Congress; elected to the Sixty-eighth and to the three succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1923, until his death; had been reelected in 1930 to the Seventy-second Congress; died in New York City, December 29, 1930; interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, Brooklyn, N.Y.
