LEGGETT, Robert Louis, a Representative from California; born in Richmond, Contra Costa County, Calif., July 26, 1926; attended the public schools of Richmond, Calif.; served as an enlisted man in the United States Navy Air Corps, 1944-1946; University of California at Berkeley, Calif., B.A., 1947, and the University of California Boalt Hall School of Jurisprudence, J.D., 1950; was admitted to the bar in 1951 and began the practice of law in Vallejo, Calif.; member of the State assembly in 1960 and 1962; elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-eighth and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1963-January 3, 1979); was not a candidate for reelection in 1978 to the Ninety-sixth Congress; died August 13, 1997, in Orange, Calif.
