Thomas Frank KONOP, Congress, WI (1879-1964)

KONOP, Thomas Frank, a Representative from Wisconsin; born in Franklin, Wis., August 17, 1879; educated at Two Rivers High School, Oshkosh State Normal School, and Northern Illinois College of Law; was graduated from the law department of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1904; was admitted to the bar in 1904 and commenced practice in Kewaunee, Wis.; district attorney of Kewaunee County 1905-1911; moved to Green Bay, Wis., and practiced law 1915-1917; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-second, Sixty-third, and Sixty-fourth Congresses (March 4, 1911-March 3, 1917); chairman, Committee on Expenditures on Public Buildings (Sixty-third and Sixty-fourth Congresses); unsuccessful candidate for reelection; resumed the practice of law in Madison, Wis.; member of the Wisconsin State Industrial Commission 1917-1922; member of State board of vocational education 1917-1922; moved to Milwaukee, Wis., and continued the practice of law in 1922 and 1923; dean of the College of Law of the University of Notre Dame 1923-1941, and dean emeritus and professor of law until his retirement in 1950; resided in South Bend, Ind., until 1962; died in San Pierre, Ind., October 17, 1964; interment in Highland Cemetery, South Bend, Ind.
