Thomas MURRAY, Jr., Congress, PA (1770-1823)
MURRAY, Thomas, Jr., (cousin of John Murray), a Representative from Pennsylvania; born near Potts Grove, East Chillisquaque Township, Northumberland County, Pa., in 1770; attended private schools; engaged in agricultural pursuits; member of the state house of representatives in 1813; served in the state senate in 1814; elected as a Republican to the Seventeenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of William Cox Ellis and served from October 9, 1821, to March 3, 1823; declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1822 to the Eighteenth Congress; died in East Chillisquaque Township, Northumberland County, Pa., August 26, 1823; interment in Chillisquaque Cemetery, near Potts Grove, Pa.
