ANFUSO, Victor LâEpiscopo, a Representative from New York; born in Gagliano Castelferrato, Sicily, Italy, March 10, 1905; immigrated to the United States in 1914 and settled in Brooklyn, N.Y.; attended elementary and Commercial High School in Brooklyn, N.Y.; preparatory courses at Columbia University in 1926 and 1927; was graduated from St. Lawrence University Law School (now Brooklyn Law School) in 1927; was admitted to the bar in 1928 and commenced the practice of law in New York City; during the Second World War served with the Office of Strategic Services in the Mediterranean Theater 1943-1945; special assistant to the Commissioner of Immigration 1944-1946; elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-second Congress (January 3, 1951-January 3, 1953); did not seek renomination in 1952; appointed city magistrate of Brooklyn, N.Y., in February 1954 and resigned in July 1954 to run for Congress; elected to the Eighty-fourth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1955-January 3, 1963); was not a candidate for renomination in 1962 to the Eighty-eighth Congress; elected a judge in the State Supreme Court in New York in 1962; died in New York City, December 28, 1966; interment in St. Johns Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y.
