WADE, William Henry, a Representative from Missouri; born near Springfield, Clark County, Ohio, November 3, 1835; attended the common schools, Grove Academy, and Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio; engaged in agricultural pursuits; during the Civil War enlisted in the Union Army April 17, 1861, and was mustered out April 26, 1866; moved to Missouri in May 1866 and resumed agricultural pursuits; member of the State house of representatives 1881-1884; elected as a Republican to the Forty-ninth, Fiftieth, and Fifty-first Congresses (March 4, 1885-March 3, 1891); chairman, Committee on Labor (Fifty-first Congress); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Fifty-second Congress; again engaged in agricultural pursuits; died in Springfield, Greene County, Mo., January 13, 1911; interment in Maple Park Cemetery.
