William KENNEDY, Congress, NC (1768-1834)
KENNEDY, William, a Representative from North Carolina; born near Washington, N.C., July 31, 1768; was graduated from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia in 1782; studied law; was admitted to the bar; elected as a Republican to the Eighth Congress (March 4, 1803-March 3, 1805); elected to the Eleventh Congress (March 4, 1809-March 3, 1811); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Twelfth Congress but was subsequently elected to the same Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Thomas Blount; reelected to the Thirteenth Congress and served from January 30, 1813, to March 3, 1815; died in Washington, Beaufort County, N.C., on October 11, 1834; interment in Kennedy Cemetery, near Washington, N.C.
