LOUGHRIDGE, William, a Representative from Iowa; born in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio, July 11, 1827; attended the common schools; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1849 and commenced practice in Mansfield, Ohio; moved to Iowa in 1852 and settled in Oskaloosa, Mahaska County; member of the State senate 1857-1860; judge of the sixth judicial circuit of Iowa 1861-1867; elected as a Republican to the Fortieth and Forty-first Congresses (March 4, 1867-March 3, 1871); elected to the Forty-third Congress (March 4, 1873-March 3, 1875); died near Reading, Pa., September 26, 1889; interment in Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, Iowa.
