ROCKHILL, William, a Representative from Indiana; born in Burlington, N.J., February 10, 1793; attended the public schools; moved to Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1822; engaged in agricultural pursuits; commissioner of Allen County, Ind., in 1825 justice of the peace; member of the first city council of Fort Wayne and also city assessor; member of the State house of representatives 1834-1837; served in the State senate 1844-1847; elected as a Democrat to the Thirtieth Congress (March 4, 1847-March 3, 1849); resumed agricultural pursuits; died at Fort Wayne, Allen County, Ind., January 15, 1865; interment in Lindenwood Cemetery.
