Lead singer of the hip-hop group The Fugees, Hill has also made a name for herself as an actress. The Fugees won a Grammy for Best R&B Group for their hit, “Killing Me Softly” (1996), and have enjoyed success with their albums The Score (1996) and their follow-up, The Carnival (1997). Hill began acting on soaps, appearing on As The World Turns (1991) before turning to the big screen in King of the Hill (1993), Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993), and Restaurant (1998). Her 1998 album The Miseducation of Lauren Hill won 5 Grammys. A Dec. 2003 performance at the Vatican received press when she lambasted the church about the molestation scandals. In Sept. 2004, the Fugees reunited and went on a European tour at the end of 2005.
