Lois Nettleton Biography
Lois Nettleton, an actress in theater, film, and television for more than 50 years, who earned recognition and respect for her dramatic and comic performances. She was born in Oak Park, Illinois and studied theater at the Goodman Theater in Chicago. In 1948, Nettleton was Miss Chicago and a semifinalist for Miss America. She made her Broadway debut in 1949 in âThe Biggest Little Thief in Town.â In 1973, she earned critical acclaim when she played Blanche DuBois in a Broadway revival of Tennessee Williamsâs âStreet Car Named Desire.â Early in her career she appeared on shows like âStudio Oneâ and âArmstrong Circle.â In later years she appeared on âSeinfeld,â âCagney & Lacey,â and âGeneral Hospital.â She was nominated for several Emmys.
